80% of wine made in Moldova was sold to Russia, but after Russia banned Moldovan wine in 2006 as part of a larger economic blackmail campaign, the industry was left crippled.
That's how much funding European wines receive to fund "promotion activities." The small country of Moldova receives none of that funding.
After discovering Purcari wine in 2014, we knew the U.S. could help fill the gap that Russia left. We've been working with the Purcari vineyard to import wines into the U.S. ever since.
